150 years of AFJ

On Aug. 29, Armed Forces Journal will turn 150 years old. Beginning as the weekly Army and Navy Journal newspaper in 1863, the publication has over the year published articles and letters from privates to generals, including some of the brightest military minds of their generations. Here’s a look back at a selection of those, from Lt. George Patton to Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Warlord’s Quote of the Day

“Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make complacent.” — Eric Hobsbawm

Contributed by Michael Cohen, a senior fellow at the American Security Project and a former principal speechwriter for the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. From a list compiled by the Warlord Loop, a private email forum for national security experts.
