Which would
you choose?

This year's Shoot-out gave evaluators a unique opportunity to judge for themselves the respective merits of the 6.5mm Grendel, left, the 5.56mm, center, and the new 6.8mm. The 5.56 and 6.8 are considered the most likely candidates to feed U.S. forces’ future assault weapons; Alexander Arms is hoping its 6.5 Grendel — admittedly a long shot — will play the role of spoiler.

Giant Frangible

Cobb Manufacturing, which produces a .50BMG-firing, AR-15 lookalike (but obviously much larger), demo’d a new type of frangible .50-caliber round at the Shoot-out. The .50 BMG round (650 gr/2,750 fps) fragments upon contacting its target, limiting the likelihood of killing or injuring innocent persons.
